South Florida is to cigar shops what Nashville is to guitar stores — there’s one on every corner, they’re all pretty good, and the competition is savage enough that mediocrity gets punished quickly. Into this arena steps Smoke Inn’s Boynton Beach flagship, a 5,000-square-foot operation that serves as both the chain’s corporate headquarters and its spiritual center. It’s essentially the mothership.
The Space
Located at 1030 Gateway Boulevard in the Quantum Towne Center (just west of I-95), the Boynton Beach location — also known as Casa de Montecristo — is what happens when a cigar shop decides it’s also a lounge, a bar, and a private club, all under one roof. Five thousand square feet of leather chairs, numerous 70-inch flat-screen TVs, a full bar with “beautiful bartenders ready with libations,” and a staff that actually knows what they’re talking about. It reads like a “man cave” checklist written by someone who’s been to a lot of bad cigar shops.
The lounge is spacious, with an outdoor patio for when Florida’s ten months of summer become too much for indoor smoking. The hours are generous: Monday through Thursday, 10am to midnight. Friday and Saturday, 10am to 2am. Sunday, noon to 10pm. In other words, it’s open when you need it to be open, which is more than most lounges can say.
The Humidor
The walk-in humidor is the showpiece — floor-to-ceiling, stocked with both the classics (Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Padrón) and the “it” brands (Tatuaje, Four Kicks, and the rest of the boutique scene). The selection is described, without hyperbole, as “unprecedented” — and for a South Florida cigar shop to earn that word in a market this competitive is saying something.
But here’s where it gets interesting: behind a locked door, accessible only with a staff chaperone, sits the Rare & Vintage Room. This is where the real devotees go. Inside, you’ll find Liga Privada Único Series, Arturo Fuente OpusX, Tatuaje Anarchy, Room101 OSOK — the kind of cigars that people track down like limited-edition sneakers. There are Clear Havana cigars (pre-embargo Cubans, rolled in the U.S. from Cuban tobacco before the 1960 ban), and a pre-Castro Cuban rum selection that pairs with them about as well as you’d expect.
The Bar
World-class bartenders, according to the shop’s own marketing — and the claim holds up. The bar serves scotch, wine, classic aperitifs, and signature cocktails. You can smoke at the bar, smoke in the lounge, or smoke on the patio. The flexibility is the point. Some nights you want to sit at the bar and talk to the bartender; other nights you want to sink into a leather chair and watch whatever game is on the 70-inch screen. Smoke Inn accommodates both moods without making you choose.
The Chain
Smoke Inn operates six locations across South Florida — Port St. Lucie, Tequesta, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, and Pompano Beach — but the Boynton Beach shop is the flagship. The corporate motto is “Continuing the cigar journey like no other,” which is the kind of phrase that sounds like marketing until you’re sitting in the Rare & Vintage Room with a pre-embargo Havana and a glass of pre-Castro rum, and you realize the journey metaphor isn’t entirely wrong.
The Verdict

Smoke Inn Boynton Beach is the total package — massive selection, serious rare stock, a real bar, generous hours, and a space designed for actual comfort. The Rare & Vintage Room alone is worth the trip. The only reason it doesn’t get a perfect score is that South Florida sets an absurdly high bar for cigar shops, and a 5/5 in this market would need to also cure cancer. For the rest of us, Smoke Inn is more than enough.
